A Iraqi soldier and his buddy are in a bind, trying to get a break from an ISIS “sniper” somewhere in their area. They have an M240 Machine Gun in hand, a lot of unused 7.62mm ammo bullets, and a working video camera to show everything that happened. In a panic, the soldier focuses on reloading his gun, no longer focusing on trying to target the rifle beforehand. Thousands of rounds are spent because of the urgency, and the gun and soldier are relentlessly spent to try and wound the ISIS enemy.
In the front lines of Iraq, these soldiers are fighting to stay alive, but instead of looking for their man, the panicked shooter simply takes his gun, loads a belt into the poor machine gun, sticks the whole barrel into a hole in the wall, and fires. After a few rounds, it becomes evident that the strategy the two men are trying to employ isn’t working. Even worse, their enemy seems to have disappeared. Deeper into the video, however, the ISIS sniper fires and nearly hits them, to which the two soldiers resort to an attempt in escaping the bunk.
Being at the place of actual warfare, it seems normal for Iraqi soldiers to panic. However, shooting thousands of rounds and wasting a good machine gun seems to have been counter-intuitive for these two men. Hopefully the gun will find a better soldier to shoot it in a different battle.
