22LR | .22 Long Rifle 6
The 22 LR, also known as the .22 Long Rifle, is a cartridge widely used for a variety of pistols, rifles, and smoothbore shotguns. This cartridge was based from the .22 Bulleted Breech Cap and in 1887, it was further developed by the J. Stevens Arms & Tool Company.
The 22 LR has minimal recoil, produces relatively low noise, and is inexpensive to boot. The ammunition is boxed from 50 to 5000 rounds, and it has a low cost per bullet. As such, almost every shooter out there started out with this humble cartridge. It is versatile enough to be used in small game hunting, and with proper shot placement, can be used to take down larger game as well. This is the ideal cartridge to use for initial firearms training, pest control, and recreational shooting.
The 22 LR is not the most ideal to use for personal and home defense. Its usefulness has often been downplayed because of the cartridge’s low energy and lack of stopping power. It has been said that an attacker can withstand multiple shots fired from a .22, but it can get the job done as long as the shot is well-placed. The 22 LR may not be the best cartridge out there, but it has a lot of things going for it. It is versatile, affordable, abundant and easily accessible in large amounts, which can prove to be useful in a survival situation.

Also included is a mention of small arms ammunition. While this text has […]
